Blue Ridge Roofing Reviews

Kent Blevins |

Blue Ridge Roofing recently completed a roof installation on a new house we’re having built. The new roof is beautiful and we are extremely pleased with the workmanship and the appearance. Ken Bowman was very helpful in walking us through our options. Count us as completely satisfied customers! ❤️

The entire experience with Blue Ridge Roofing was positive! The contractor is very professional, and the team lead and the crew were great. They worked long days and completed the project in the timeframe that was stated originally.

From start to finish, our re-roofing job by Blue Ridge Roofing was exceptional. The work crew was courteous and a pleasure to deal with, they left the site tidy each day. We believe they gave us an excellent result. We would confidently refer family or friends.

If only there were a rating higher than five stars. Recently had old metal roof removed and replaced with 26 gauge Galvalume metal on my home, my two-story, two-car garage, and a newly-added gable roof side porch by Blue Ridge Roofing. Searching for the right roofer to do this job was a months-long (nearly a year) process during which I had on-site reviews with five roofing contractors. I knew I had just one chance to get this right and I studied materials, installation methods, and most importantly local metal roof contractors, before choosing Blue Ridge Roofing. Ken Bowman, owner and project estimator, visited my home twice to carefully measure my project and answer my endless questions. He actually pointed out and taught me critical details about metal roofs that I had not learned despite all the studying. He was patient and always took or returned my calls promptly while I obsessively pored over the multiple quotes I received. However, as I did so, it became clear Ken and Blue Ridge Roofing had provided me the most complete and concise detail on the quote and had answered questions I had not even known to ask, which led me to choose Blue Ridge Roofing.

MAN, I am glad I did! The team that did my job did NOT mess around! They did the job faster than I imagined possible. And I watched them constantly. They did not skip any steps. And what I noticed as the project progressed was that their craftsmanship was always consistent even when I wasn’t watching. Cuts are precise. Corner trim is tight and sealed. Screw intervals are precise.

I do not typically write lengthy reviews. But in this case, I know directly how huge an investment any roof replacement is, ESPECIALLY a metal roof. These roofs are costly to be sure. But they are lifetime roofs. But only if they are done precisely. And I can look at my roof and validate that all the details were followed. I know I will never have to address my roof again in my lifetime barring something catastrophic such as a tree falling on my house. And now, every time it rains or thunderstorms, I lie in my bed upstairs just beneath this roof listening to the rain crashing onto my Galvalume roof done by Blue Ridge Roofing, and I feel this cozy sense of comfort and confidence that my house is extremely well protected.

What I replaced: 29 gauge, faded green metal roof. I did not know this before I studied metal roofs, but my original old green roof (I am second owner of this 2005 vintage mountain cottage with original 29 gauge green metal roof) did not have any fascia trim, it had no drip edge, there were no transition strips between steeper/shallower roof pitches, and it did not have a proper ridge cap. The flashing around the stone chimney was not correct. All the screws were rusted and many were backing out, though fortunately I had no leaks. So edges were not protected, fascia boards were vulnerable, and the garage actually leaked where the steep pitch section transitioned to a shallower pitch (no transition strip).

What I Replaced With: I chose 26 gauge (heaviest gauge metal available in this product line) Galvalume, galvanized-look mechanically fastened metal. Again, Blue Ridge installed components I did not even know were required. All edges have fascia trim, drip edge, a very large ridge cap fully sealed, a proper metal transition strip, and vapor barrier membrane beneath roof panels that I did not expect.

NOTE TO METAL ROOF SHOPPERS: DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! Not all metal roof materials are the same (e.g., 29 gauge metal is much thinner than 26 gauge). Not all finishes age the same. But most of all, not all installers have the true skillsets to properly install metal roofs. I learned SO MUCH through this frustratingly-long process. But WOW was it worth the effort!

Thanks Ken, Elias, and the whole Team for a great job. I am truly grateful.

After a horribly botched roof installation in 2018 by another roofing company, we hired Blue Ridge Roofing to completely replace our roof this year (2022). Ken, the proprietor, gave us a very accurate estimate of the job cost, and the crew foreman, Santos, was on-site almost every day supervising each step of the process. The crew was professional, showed up every day (weather permitting), and did a great job cleaning up during and after installation. I highly recommend this company – their installation went above and beyond our expectations and it’s obvious they know exactly how to install the underlayment, valley pans, edging, and shingles (we went with DaVinci Bellaforte composite shake shingles) for lasting quality.

They were kind enough to schedule a service appointment rather quickly after I mentioned my roof was leaking. The owner was able to provide an estimate before they started the repair. The team was professional and completed the repair in 2 days. Special thanks to Santos, who was caring and innovative. I’m happy with the job well done and will not hesitate to recommend them.

Did a great job on my mother in law’s cabin, and at a reasonable price.

Blue Ridge Roofing did a great job replacing our roof. They were reasonably priced and very responsive. They also coordinated a chimney rebuild due to Helene damage. All work was done by a courteous crew!
